Music News

We have had a busy year with many fine performances and pupils continue to work extremely hard.  We had fantastic results in the Glasgow Music Festival with third places for the band and choir, and a first place for the brass group.  Our planning is now heading towards a concert tour to the Black Forest region of Germany in June 2014.

We have also started a ‘Cluster Band’ with 28 pupils from our local primary schools and S1/2 pupils.  We have been meeting every Friday after school and confidence and musicality are growing each week; not to mention the fun!  Hopefully our début performance will be early in the next session.

Thanks to former pupil, David Law who, as part of his own coursework, has been working with S1 pupils teaching them to play guitar.  He has spent several Fridays providing small group lessons to pupils desperate to get on the guitar playing ladder.  I am pleased to say that David has a relaxed but productive style with the pupils who have all thoroughly enjoyed getting specialist tuition.

We would like to bid a fond farewell to some of our senior pupils who have worked incredibly hard with the band and choir over recent years.  They will be sadly missed, but are welcome back as audience or performers when and if they have time.

There should be many opportunities to support us in the coming year…..look out for us walking the first part of the West Highland Way in August and performing joint concerts with Loretto School in September/October.
