Art and Design News

S4 pupils studying Art and Design enjoyed a visit to Kelvingrove Art Gallery this week as part of their National 4/5 course. For many pupils, this was their first experience of visiting an art gallery and throughout the day they were involved in drawing activities, the analysis of artists’ work and understanding the techniques which painters employ to produce work and how this has changed over the years. There was a particular focus on paintings by the Scottish Colourists and the Glasgow Boys, which many of the pupils will be studying in more depth throughout the year. It is hoped that by experiencing the art works first hand, pupils will be able to analyse the work more confidently in their final exam.

Young Enterprise

This year's Young Enterprise company is up and running and is currently gearing up for this year's Enterprise Challenge. The initiative involves S6 pupils forming a company and taking on associated business roles in order to produce and sell a product. Already, pupils' skills in leadership, decision-making and problem solving have all been tested as they come up with innovative business ideas.
