Kirkintilloch Gain A Point Away To Lenzie And Progress Through To The Second Round Of The Scottish C

Kirkintilloch High drew with a brilliant Lenzie side to earn a point. David Findlay scored both goals for Kirky as they drew 2-2 with a very organised Lenzie team.

In their Scottish Cup game with Cardinal Newman High School, Kirkintilloch High won comfortably 7-2. The game started with very even possession in the first ten minutes of the game. Kirky received a free kick on the corner of the Cardinal’s box. The free kick taken by David Findlay was deflected into the net by both Darren Pryde and a Cardinal defender. Once Cardinal took kick off they dominated possession and scored not long after the restart. Five minutes later, they took a short corner and bent a great effort into the top corner. However just before half time, Aidan MacDonald anticipated the pass from the Cardinal left back and finished well.
In the second half, Kirky made use of their possession with a great pass from Darren Pryde to Brian Wallace who finished at the near post. Second half substitute David Barrie whipped in a corner straight to Daniel Nash, whose deflected header found the net. Then Aidan MacDonald received the ball on the right after a superb diagonal pass from Lee McPherson and drove towards goal and again found the far right corner. Aidan then achieved his hat-trick after he tucked away another shot from about twelve yards out with his right foot. However Cardinal found a burst of energy and tested keeper Stewart Gill who made an excellent double save. Nevertheless, Aidan then scored the goal of the game with a great left foot strike from twenty yards out. A commanding performance from all Kirkintilloch High players including Captain Jordan Wightman. A well deserved win from the boys!
