Art and Design News - Feburary

Last week the Art and Design Department were delighted to welcome a number of creative professionals to talk to pupils about their career pathways as part of our contribution to the S2 Careers IDL project.
Pupils thoroughly enjoyed working with architect and Strathclyde University Course leader, Derek Hill as well as architecture students from the course. They made a short presentation to pupils about architecture before involving the pupils in an interactive workshop to design a space for their imaginary client. Pupils enjoyed using cardboard, scissors and glue to construct a range of interesting spaces all focussing on the needs of the client.
We also enjoyed hearing from Kassie Andrews from Kabe Designs about her career as an interior designer, as well as Craig Mackie from The Shine Agency graphic design company. Pupils also heard from Emma Noble from Glasgow fashion label Saunt and Sinner as well as Ronnie Burns from Burns Interior Design company who has designed prestigious interiors such as 'Citation' in Glasgow and 'La Vita' in Bishopbriggs. Pupils welcomed the opportunity to ask questions about specific careers and find out about what a career within the creative industries involves.
