Public Speaking

Congratulations were in order for two very fine performances from Kirkintilloch High School pupils at the recent Kirky Speakers public speaking contest. It took place on Tuesday the 7th of October at the Kirkintilloch Baptist Church. Representing the Juniors was Zoe Porter from S3, who did an excellent speech on the subject of “Ghosts” and came a very creditable third in the competition. The Senior candidate, Reece McKenzie from S5, did even better. His excellent speech on the inflated financial rewards of our current footballers, entitled “Football: Increasing Wages, Decreasing Passion”, won the competition, despite a strong showing from other local schools, including St Ninian’s , Cumbernauld High and Kilsyth.
