s4 Work Experience

During October thirty five S4 pupils had the opportunity to take part in a week’s work experience placement. During the placement, the pupils were treated as young employees of the organisation and carried out a range of tasks or duties, finding out about the skills and attitudes that employers are looking for.  This experience helped many pupils think positively about the qualities that they may need to develop, and about careers they may be interested in. Work experience assists with the student’s personal and social development, as well as developing key skills in a work environment, thus improving chances of employment. Following placement the pupils are working towards achieving SQA accreditation for their work experience.

We take the health, safety and well-being of our pupils very seriously when they are out on their work experience placement. Kirkintilloch High School worked closely with placement staff to help them provide a safe and secure working environment for our pupils. We would like to thank the many local businesses for giving our pupils this work experience opportunity and for the positive feedback they provided. Local businesses involved: Arnold Clark (Lenzie, Bishopbriggs and Springburn), Bishopbriggs Motors, TLC Nursery, Riverside Nursery, Happy Days Nursery, Kidsplay Nursery, Pets at Home, Glam and Glossy, Scotmid (Merkland and Hillhead), Atlas Engineers, Continental tiles, Boots, City of Glasgow College, Data Photography, Key Community Supports, McLarens Accident Repair Garage, Tesco, Guala Closures, Douglas Park, Twechar Community Action, Drummers Only and East Dunbartonshire Council.
