Andy Scott talks about his 'Arria' iconic sculpture presenting Cumbernauld

The Art and Design Department seized the opportunity to participate in a Careers IDL Project aimed at S2 pupils prior to their Subject Option Choices for National 4 and National 5, SQA CfE certification. This project involved visiting guests from different types of jobs to help aid all pupils appreciate and make decisions about their future career path.

Andy Scott is a Scottish figurative sculptor in galvanised steel, fibreglass and cast bronze. He is based in Maryhill, Glasgow and specialises in public art. Many of his sculptures can be seen around Glasgow, Scotland, Belfast, Australia and beyond. His sculptures are now becoming well known iconic landmarks clearly identifying the location and helping to establish a corporate identify and spirit of the people who live there. This opportunity was widened and included Andy talking to some of the senior pupils presenting studying Art and Design at Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher. All pupils enjoyed and appreciated the time Andy took out of his busy schedule to share his experiences.
