School Choir

On Thursday 29thNovember, Kirkintilloch High School’s choir were invited to sing at this year’s annual St Andrew’s First Aid Awards. The choir were asked to sing three songs at the prestigious black tie event including Bill Withers’ ‘Lean on Me’ and Michael Bublé’s ‘Hold On’. The third song, Heather Small’s ‘Proud’, was of greatest significance as, not only was the choir’s performance of this song chosen by the event organisers but, to top it all off, the choir was joined by the talented Jai McDowall, the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2011.
The choir’s performance at Glasgow’s City Chambers was their most prestigious concert to date and, despite the pressure, they delivered an outstanding performance. One of the event’s organisers even said that they ‘clearly stole the show’. The pupils, who all worked extremely hard to make this performance their best yet, were treated to dinner at Browns Restaurant where live piano performances continued to make the evening a very memorable one. Overall, the experience was certainly beneficial for all of the pupils involved as they now have photos and memories to add to their growing collection of ‘Music School’ highlights, which also include performances in Barcelona and The Royal Concert Hall.
The choirmaster, Mr Robert Leadbeater, is incredibly proud of the pupils’ participation at this honourable event and invites you all to witness the choir’s talents at Kirkintilloch High School’s Christmas concert on Tuesday 18th December.
