The Wood Family Trust had tasked our S6 with researching, meeting with and developing a presentation to deliver to a panel of judges to win £3000 for their chosen charity.
The S6 pupils involved in this enterprise undertook the challenge with gusto liaising with their charities both in school and at charity premises. The information they gleaned from these meetings then formed the basis of their presentation delivery to convince the panel of judges on the merits of their local cause.
The judging panel included Head Teacher Mr Muir and S6 pupils Claire Surgeon and Jonathan Taylor, as well representatives from the Bank of Scotland and George Williamson of the Parent Council.
Charities represented included GAMH, Quarriers, 3D Drumchapel, The Balmore Trust, DAYNA and, the winning group, the Kirkintilloch Addiction Recovery Centre. All of the presenters were very convincing and passionate when speaking on their charities, but the creativity of the winning group narrowly edged them over the others.
Winner Gavin Rooney said “it was a very rewarding experience for the group and we particularly enjoyed working with Seamus at the ARC”.
