Attendance

We regard excellent attendance as a key element of achieving success at school and as such, Kirkintilloch High School has clear attendance procedures. The Guidance Team monitor attendance and punctuality and will investigate all unexplained absences. If we are concerned about your child’s attendance/punctuality we will send a letter/call to discuss our concerns/ or our Attendance Officer (Mrs Lorna Sime) may visit your home. If unjustified or unexplained absences persist, the matter can be referred to the Local Authority Attendance Council or to the Children’s Reporter. As part of our safety procedures, if your child is marked absent from school but we are unaware of the reason for their absence an automated text will be sent.

How can parents/carers help?

·         If your child is absent from school we would ask you to contact the school office. (0141 955 2372) AND

·         When your child returns to school we ask that you provide a note stating your childs name, class, the date(s) they were absent and the reasons for their absence. Your child should hand this note to their registration teacher.

·         If you know in advance that your child will be absent from school a note must be provided stating your childs name, class, the date(s) they are going to be absent and the reasons for their absence. This should be handed to your child registration teacher.

Please contact the appropriate Guidance Teacher if you have concerns or questions in relation to pupil attendance and timekeeping.
