The Guidance Team aims to support every pupil in their development as individuals, and to enable them to be happy, safe and to achieve their potential.

Our priority is to ensure a pupil centred approach by:

·         Encouraging pupils to make informed decisions and choices

·         Working in partnership with parents/carer, other agencies and the wider community.

·         Promoting an ethos of inclusion

There are four Principal Teachers of Guidance who each have responsibility for a House Group. We operate a vertical House system which means that your child, and other brothers and sisters, will have the same Guidance Teacher. Throughout the year pupils will be involved in a number of inter-house activities including; sporting activities, charity events, and quizzes.

At Kirkintilloch High School we feel it is very important that a good working relationship can be established, not only between teacher and pupil, but, equally importantly, between Guidance Teacher and parent/carer. We hope that if you have any concerns or questions you will not hesitate to contact us.

"The school has highly effective approaches to support the pastoral needs of all young people. Innovative approaches to parental engagement have successfully ensured young people and their families are supported, particularly at key points of transition, during times of crisis and when young people are having difficulties with particular skills." Education Scotland Inspection Report for Kirkintilloch High School December 2013
