This course provides a broad-based, integrated study of a range of Biological topics, which are required for progression to the study of Higher Biology.
The course is divided into 3 x 20 hour units:
- Living Cells
- Environmental Biology and Genetics
- Animal Physiology
Entry
This course is suitable for those who have gained a General Award in Standard Grade Biology, an A grade in Intermediate 1 Biology or a Credit pass in Standard Grade Chemistry or Physics.
Course Assessment
To gain an overall award, candidates must pass all 3 Unit assessments, one detailed experimental report, and the external exam.
The external exam is a 2 hour question paper consisting of multiple choice and structured questions , data handling , and extended response (essays).
