National 4/5 Health and Food Technology

 

This course comprises of three units:-

1.  Food for Health

2.  Food Product Development

3.  Contemporary Food Issues

Pupils will be assessed on each of the unit outcomes and must meet the minimum competency as required by SQA to pass each unit.

National 4 pupils, in addition to completing each of the units, will be required to complete an assignment know as the Added Value Unit.  This involves producing a food product for a given design brief.

There are two parts to the National 5 course assessment, in addition to the completion of units, that will be externally assessed. 

1.  An assignment worth 50 marks which requires the pupil to plan, make, test and evaluate a food product for a given brief.

2.  A question paper worth 50 marks.
