Pupils in Art and Design follow skills based courses in S1-3, developing confidence in Expressive, Design and Critical work.  Units covered include portraiture, built environment, and still life as well as ceramic, graphic and jewellery design.  These units allow learners to build on prior learning and apply learning in new and unfamiliar contexts.

Pupils will participate in exhibitions, excursions and workshops to enhance their learning experiences and are given regular homework to consolidate learning done in class.  Pupils will work individually and as part of groups, developing collaborative working as well as independent thinking.

We also offer a number of extra curricular experiences for our learners in S1 - S3, including Photography group and Clay club.  We are pleased to participate in the S2 IDL Careers project involving visits from a range of creative professionals to talk to pupils about careers in Art and Design.  This year we welcomed an architect, graphic designer and product designer to classes, providing them with further information about career pathways.
